Tratto cover pages is, for young artists, a great chance to
promote themselves and, given the first edition's success, it
promises to be a popular event, following in the footsteps of
Subway Literature.
The main purpose of the event is to promote new artists in the
book industry and re-launch editorial illustration. The contest,
held by the Laboratory-E20 Association, chaired by the satire
illustrator Alfredo Chiappori, is reserved to illustrators under 35
who will have the chance to create the cover pages for 18
mini-volumes to be published in 2009 for the eighth edition of
"Subway Literature!.
About 4,250,000 copies of the Subway-Literature mini-volumes
will be published and distributed for free from spring to fall,
2009, in the 106 Literary Jukeboxes installed in Milan (May),
Mantua, Naples and Rome (June), Venice (September) and Palermo
(October).
"There are many points where Tratto Pen and Subway Literature
meet, especially when supporting young creative expressions.
Starting this year, in addition to writers and poets, we are
inviting illustrators, the creative category still lacking at
Subway and whose talents are essential to publishing.
The Tratto cover pages initiative intends to provide promising
young illustrators with higher visibility and we would like to
thank Alfredo Chiappori for having enthusiastically participated in
our project". Stated Piero Frova, FILA marketing manager, at the
first edition of "Tratto cover pages", emphasising the bond between
Tratto and all cultural initiatives that promote creativity in all
its forms for over thirty years.
