Two centuries of quality
Founded by Johann Froescheis in 1806 in Nuremburg, Lyra is one
of the oldest pencil brands in the world. Highly successful from
the on start, it confirmed its success with mass production in 1848
and the move to Großweidenmühle in 1878.
The Second World War crippled the company, 85% was destroyed by
bombs and was reconstructed in just two years thanks to its
workers' dedication. After a difficult post-war period, Lyra
resumed growth through the production of high quality products,
using efficient and environmentally friendly methods.
In the 90's, expansion touched Singapore, Indonesia, Sweden and
the United States. A solid and international company that became
"Italian" after 200 years, entering the great creative FILA family
in 2008.
